DCI Knipps Top Investigation TipsThis is the score!
Once the questioning has been completed, each team will have the opportunity to ask just one more final question to a suspect of their choice but the rest of the investigators will be able to listen in. Time's up and it’s down to the Super Sleuths and Sherlock Holmes wannabe's to crack the murder mystery, bring the murderer(s) to justice and complete your answer sheet. Who dunnit? As with any Murder investigation you’re trying to establish 3 things; method/opportunity, motive and the murder weapon. Some of the suspects may have more than one of these things, but the murderer(s) will definitely have all three i.e. an opportunity to kill his/her victim, a reason for doing so, and of course, a murder weapon. Work as a team, win as Individuals. In true “weakest link” style, there are no team prizes, only individual ones; each of you have an answer sheet for your answer. You don’t have to be swayed by other people on your table – write down your own thoughts. Detail, detail…Your answer sheets are passed directly to a team of CPS officers that we have on standby, in a police van conveniently located out the back - no you can’t meet them as that would be most improper. In our experience the CPS like lots of detail and in the event we get more than one correct answer sheet, the CPS always pick the one with the most correct facts. They all did it!Some investigators we’ve worked with in the past adopt the philosophy that by accusing a handful of likely suspects they will increase their chances of getting the correct person. This is of course true, but in the spirit of good public relations between the law enforcement community and the general public we like to avoid sending innocent people to prison. If you implicate an innocent party in your answer, you are wrong! Excuse me, but are they allowed to lie?Unfortunately, under the International Bill of Human Rights, we’re not allowed to inject the suspects with a truth drug. Whilst we realise that this makes your investigation more difficult, especially if a suspect has something to hide, we are unable to stop those that insist on lying. Remember, all suspects are under oath and bound to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But hey – welcome to real life! What do you think this is, some kind of theatrical production. Good luck with your investigations. |
